Apple's latest Mac operating system, OS X Mavericks, was announced in June at its World Wide Developer's Conference. Now, four months later it looks like the public release date is set for sometime in October.

A report from 9to5Mac written in Sept. indicates that all signs point to a late October release date. Given the proximity to the iOS 7 launch, OS X Mavericks will likely need to be accompanied by the announcement the new iPad iOS 7.

According to the report, OS X Lion and OS X Mountain Lion released the new operating systems the day after an earning results release. The company traditionally shares its Q4 earnings numbers during the latter half of October.

Earlier this week OS X Mavericks released its Golden Master. This is typically the final beta release before the product goes to market. The product has been in beta testing since its unveiling at the World Wide Developer's Conference in June.

In addition to the new Mac software, Apple is expected to release a bevy of new Macs in the fall. This includes new Mac Pros, iMacs and MacBook Pros.

PentagonPost reports that Apple's employees have begun training its AppleCare support staff to accommodate users with the new system. This includes new features, installation process and troubleshooting options. In the coming weeks the staff is expected to undergo six hours of training total.

OS X Mavericks includes several improvements upon its predecessor. This includes: improved multiple-monitor support, power-user features in Finder, a faster Safari, Maps and iBooks apps and redesigned Calendar application.

The OS X Mavericks release will join iOS 7, Apple's new mobile operating system update. iOS 7 launched as a free download to all iPhone 4 and above models, iPad 2 and above models and the fifth generation iPod Touch.
