Apple announced the latest version of its Mac operating system called OS X 10.9 Mavericks back in June at its World Wide Developer's Conference. The new operating system, and the first not to be named for some kind of cat, boasts many new features to get users excited and clamoring to get their hands on it. Now, Apple has some good news.

The company has released OS X 10.9 Mavericks Golden Master to developers. In common vernacular, the "Golden Master" is the final version of the operating system before it officially launches to the public. When a new bit of software is rolled out to developers in beta, it goes through several updates and changes before reaching the "Golden Master" phase. It means that the new OS from Mac will be available sometime very soon.

DigitalTech believes that Apple will likely launch OS X 10.9 later this month, given the news of the Golden Master launch. The hope is that it will coincide with the launch of the new iPad and new Mac Pro. Mavericks will being several new features including support for iBooks, Finder Tabs, integrated Apple Maps and a new power saving feature called App Nap.

Apple's new operating system also comes with better integration of multiple displays. Among the power saving methods for the desktop there is a new system that makes it so that users can run less power when a video or something heavy in animation is not visible. If you're watching a YouTube video and switch over to Facebook, your computer will continue to play the video but run less power since it won't be displaying it.

Users can also create tabs within the Finder window and receive notifications in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
