A small plane was forced to land on the I-84 in Boise, Idaho, due to engine issues right at the start of rush hour on Tuesday morning.

Law enforcement agencies said the aircraft skidded onto the eastbound lanes at about 7 a.m. and that there were no immediate reports of injuries or vehicles involved, according to FOX News.

The only person aboard was an unidentified pilot who forgot to use a second fuel tank which caused the engine to quit, SP Aircraft owner Andy Patrick revealed.

"He had plenty of fuel in the aircraft," he elaborated, according to the San Francisco Gate. "He just made a mistake and forgot to switch fuel tanks. The pilot made an error and wasn't able to make the runway."

Patrick said the pilot was flying freight front from Spokane, Wash., to Boise when the pilot was forced to make the emergency landing.

The plane suffered damage as it made the landing with the craft's propeller appearing bent after striking the pavement, reported the Associated Press. However, it's not clear whether the plane striking the pavement was the result of the plane's landing gear failing to deploy or if the gear collapsed during the landing.

Santiago Guerricabeitia of the Idaho Transportation Department's Division of Aeronautics praised the pilots quick thinking.

"This was probably his best choice," he said. "If he did have an engine failure, there's not a lot of time."

Traffic was backed up for awhile after the landing. Crews managed to remove the aircraft off the interstate just before 9 a.m.
