Officials in the U.K. are saying that witchcraft and rituals of the occult are on the rise, many involving child abuse, according to InfoWars. Since 2013, the number of cases involving the occult in some form have steadily increased.

In 2014, Project Violet, a special division of the Britain Metropolitan Police, received 46 cases involving witchcraft, exorcism or some form of the occult.

This year, the number continues to rise with 60 cases having been reported, according to the Associated Press. The cases involving children sometimes involve the parents believing that their child is possessed, causing them physical harm or abuse in general.

Detective Terry Sharp said that one report involved a 9-year-old boy who was thrown out of his home after his parents thought he was possessed by the devil. In another case, one woman almost suffocated her son after suspecting him of witchcraft.

"You'll get the actual physical abuse and injuries taking place, and in the worst-case scenario we've had some homicides as well," Sharp said.

There have also been reports of children being kidnapped and taken from their families in order to perform rituals, according to RT.

"We're concerned about reports that hundreds of children have been abducted from their families in Africa and trafficked to the U.K., especially London, for religious rituals," said Kirsten Sandberg, head of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child.
