Georgia Bulldogs running back Nick Chubb will not return after suffering a gruesome knee injury against the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday afternoon, according to UGA Athletics' twitter account.

Chubb was injured on the first play of the game, and from the video posted the injury could be severe. The Bulldogs face a tough test against the Volunteers without their top rusher, and could potentially be without him for some time depending on the extent of his injury.

Chubb was an early favorite for the Heisman this season, and he has been dominating on the field. Chubb is averaging 8.2 yards per carry with 745 rushing yards this season. Without Chubb the Bulldogs will likely look to sophomore running back Sony Michel.

Michel is averaging 6.7 yards per carry this season, and will have to make the most of his opportunity. Michel has four rushing touchdown this season, and the Bulldogs will likely use him in conjunction with senior running back Keith Marshall.

Marshall has played all four years at Georgia, and has scored three touchdowns this season. Marshall was heavily used as a freshman with 117 carries in 2012, but since then has not seen over 60 carries in a season. The combination of Marshall and Michel will likely need to step if the Bulldogs want to compete in the SEC East.

There is no report on the severity of Chubb's injury yet, but head coach Mark Richt will need his players to have the next man up mentality.
