Meghan Brianna Alt from Irvine, Calif., who was crowned Mrs. Orange County in 2014, has been accused of production and distribution of child pornography involving a 4-year-old family member, officials said Thursday.

The 25-year-old was arrested on Wednesday in San Diego County by investigators belonging to a multi-agency child exploitation task force, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department, KTLA reported.

Alt apparently sold the sexually explicit images to a U.S. Marine stationed in Southern California in exchange for cash and gifts, according to ABC7.

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service learned about the explicit images and initiated the investigation.

She also advertised services via Craigslist, which, at times, led to an exchange of sex for money, often taking place in front of her children, said authorities, according to The Los Angeles Times.

"Pretty egregious allegations at this point," sheriff's Lt. Jeff Hallock said. "It's believed that she was utilizing a 4-year-old family member to create and then distribute child pornography, and she was doing that via electronic means."

Alt was stopped during a traffic stop in San Diego County and was with her husband at the time, who had no knowledge of her alleged activities, said Hallock.

Alt was booked into the Orange County Jail on suspicion of multiple California criminal charges, including production and distribution of child pornography, as well as lewd and lascivious conduct with a child. Her bail has been set at $100,000, and she is due to appear in court on Friday.
