Bill Gates and other wealthy investors have invested $108 million in Impossible Foods, a food company startup that is looking to make meat products with no cholesterol, no antibiotics, no hormones and most surprisingly, no meat, according to NewsMax.

But the California based group is not looking to make veggie burgers, at least not in the traditional sense. It is attempting to create meat products that are so overwhelmingly meaty and flavorful that not even the most enthusiastic meat lover could tell the difference.

"We start with plants - such as grains, greens and beans - and separate proteins, fats, and other nutrients from each one, selecting those that give our foods desirable flavors and textures," said the company, according to the Inquisitr. "We then combine these proteins with vitamins, amino acids, and fats, all from plants, to make our meats and cheeses."

Though it may seem like a far-fetched idea, Impossible Foods has attracted a lot of attention, and with the backing from legendary inventor and businessman Gates, the company is well on its way to establishing a marketable product, according to DBTechno.

"This latest financing ensures that we have more than enough runway to bring our first products to market," said Impossible Foods founder and CEO Patrick O. Brown. "We are grateful to our visionary investors, whose support will enable us to transform the global food system by providing consumers with delicious and sustainable meat and dairy foods made directly from plants."
