Recently a report began circling around that Charlie Hunnam wanted to drop out of the "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie as Christian Grey. E.L. James announced that the 33-year-old actor would be sharing the screen with Dakota Johnson as the lead kinky couple in the movie.

Almost immediately there was uproar about the casting decision. Fans thought both choices were completely wrong for the parts and demanded a recast.

Producers involved with "Fifty Shades of Grey" quickly tried to quiet the backlash telling fans to give them a chance and explaining that more than looks went into the final decision. Still fans were not happy.

Neither Hunnam nor Johnson have commented about the backlash but a recent report by Celebrity Dirty Laundry claims the actor regrets signing on to play the sex-crazed, domineering billionaire and is trying to figure out how to get out of his contract. If this rumor is true that would be a tremendous set back but several fans gladly accepted the news, hoping it was true.

"Hearing they BOTH dropped would be music to my ears, but I'd rather have him than her! She's gross," one fan posted.

"Nothing personal about Charlie or Dakota they are just not right for these parts, AT ALL! This is a casting mistake and a BIG MISTAKE. It would be best if they both bowed out," someone else wrote.

Many "Fifty Shades" fans feel like the "Sons of Anarchy" actor is too old to play Grey and doesn't have the alluring appeal the character has in the books. Not everyone, however, is unhappy about the actor being cast.

"I think he's PERFECT!" another user wrote. "I think most people imagined these more well-known faces while reading the book and aren't thinking about the descriptions of Mr. Grey that were in the book," one fan posted.

Fans aren't just upset over Hunnam being cast; a lot of them also want Johnson out of the movie as well. Johnson's mom, actress Melanie Griffith, came to her daughter's defense calling one Twitter user "quite the bitch" after criticizing James' decision.
