Ian Somerhalder is finally opening up about the losing the role of Christian Grey to Charlie Hunnam. In an interview with HuffPost Love, Somerhalder shut down rumors that he was upset over not being cast as the kinky billionaire.

"It's so funny, you read these blogs, 'Ian Somerhalder angry, livid he's not Christian Grey.' I mean, no, no, no, there's none of that," he said.

He did admit that he thought Christian Grey was "the man" but said that his hectic filming schedule with the "The Vampire Diaries" would have probably prevented him taking the role anyway.

"I'm on a TV show that shoots about 10 months a year," he said.

That's not what the 34-year-old actor was saying months ago. Somerhalder was extremely vocal about wanting to star in "Fifty Shades of Grey." During an interview with Ryan Seacrest on KIIS-FM he talked about how much he wanted the role.

"I absolutely would be up for that. It could be very, very amazing," he said. "I have the book and I just started reading it. That would be a pretty incredible thing, and hopefully that could pan out."

He also expressed the same interest to E! News back in April 2012 telling E! that he thought it would be an "amazing" opportunity for him.

During his interview with HuffPost Live, Somerhalder didn't say whether or not he really wanted the role telling the reporter "that's a whole other conversation."

E.L. James announced on Labor Day that Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson would be playing Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the highly anticipated movie.

"Fifty Shades of Grey" is scheduled to hit theaters Aug. 1, 2014.
