Rihanna gave a vulnerable, tell-all interview in her cover story for the November issue of Vanity Fair, reported Marie Claire. The edgy pop star discussed controversial former NAACP leader Rachel Dolezal and even opened up about her relationship with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown in the fashion magazine.

On the cover, which was shot in Havana, Cuba, the self-proclaimed bad girl poses in a low-cut light teal jumper, with her fiery bright red hair in loose curls. She's resting against the side of a retro, bright turquoise car and looks into the camera lens with her signature sultry gaze.

She defended Dolezal, the former NAACP leader who was outed as a white woman pretending to be black, in her interview, according to Mashable, saying Dolezal allowed everyone to change their perspective on race.

"I think she was a bit of a hero, because she kind of flipped on society a little bit," Rihanna told Vanity Fair, as reported by Mashable. "Is it such a horrible thing that she pretended to be black? Black is a great thing, and I think she legit changed people's perspective a bit and woke people up."

The singer also opened up about why she got back together with ex Brown after he allegedly beat her severely on the way to a pre-Grammys party in 2009, according to Us Weekly. Rihanna admitted she thought she had the power to change Brown, but soon realized it was best for the two to part ways.

"If you put up with it, maybe you are agreeing that you [deserve] this, and that's when I finally had to say, 'Uh-oh, I was stupid thinking I was built for this,'" she told Vanity Fair, as reported by Us Weekly. "Sometimes you just have to walk away."
