The gold bikini costume worn by Carrie Fisher in 1983's "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi" has been sold for $96,000 to an anonymous bidder at an auction of more than 50 props, items and movie memorabilia from the franchise held at the Profiles in History auction house on Oct. 1, as HNGN previously reported.
The iconic "slave" outfit made its appearance in the film when Princess Leia was captured by Jabba The Hutt. The bidding for the costume opened at $80,000 and came with the collar, several chain links as well as a letter of authenticity from Industrial Light and Magic designer Richard Miller, according to CNN.
The auction also included the Naboo blaster from "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace," a prototype Darth Vader helmet, "Star Wars" script pages as well as a miniature Rebel Blockade Runner, which was sold for $450,000, more than twice its $200,000 opening bid, setting the record for highest-selling "Star Wars" artifact in an auction, The Guardian reported.
Fisher will return as Leia in J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," which is slated to hit theaters on Dec. 18.
