As the Internet has shown over the years, millennials do all sorts of crazy stuff with their time. Some are creatively inspiring, while some are weird or downright pointless. But there's a new trending challenge kids are getting into that's giving others panic attacks. It's called "phone pinching" or "extreme phone pinching" and the consequences may be costly.

The craze was apparently started by Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun of Twenty One Pilots, an indie pop band, according to The Mirror. It involves holding the corner of an expensive smartphone by the edges with the thumb and index finger, while dangling it at a "dangerous" spot, such as on the balcony or ledge, over a drain or body of water, or basically anywhere where dropping it could mean losing the phone altogether.

The actual point of the challenge is to video tape the person doing it to post on social media, and depending on the outcome, it could either brand the person as "fearless" or just plain stupid.

Watch this video below for a clearer idea of how it's done:

Some participants describe doing it for the adrenaline rush, while many shun the act for risking their phones and potentially angering their parents. However, some follow the trend on social media with curiosity, while admitting that it's causing them anxiety and stress.

Unfortunately, someone did confess to doing the phone pinching challenge and ended up failing at it.
