The Washington Redskins are confidently behind quarterback Kirk Cousins as their long-term starter, according to NFL reporter Connor Orr.

"We're 1-2 right now, but were hoping it pays dividends," said head coach Jay Gruden, via nfl.com. "We've got all the confidence in the world in him. As an organization, we all came to the same conclusion. It's not like the room was split - This wanted him, he wanted him, he wanted him. Collectively it was unanimous. We're all stick by the plan and we're showing Kirk that we have confidence in him. And hopefully it pays off and he'll get better every game."

Through three starts this season, Cousins has thrown for 715 yards with three touchdowns and four interceptions. In week three against the Giants, Cousins threw over 300 yards but also had two interceptions. Cousins seems to be a hot and cold quarterback but never seems consistent.

The Redskins have former first round draft Robert Griffin III on their roster but seem reluctant to want to use him. Griffin is due $16 million next season, and some think that the Redskins should trade him or release him to get him of the books for 2016.

The quarterback problems in Washington D.C. doesn't end with Cousins and Griffin, as some think Colt McCoy should be the starter. "He's (Cousins) started quite a bit coming into the season and it's always been the same thing every time he plays. He does just enough so you don't think he should get benched, but he also does enough to generally help you lose whatever particular game you're in," said former NFL quarterback Shaun King, via CBS DC. " I think Colt's the best quarterback they have."

The Redskins face NFC East rival the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday, and everyone will likely be keeping a close eye on Cousins' play. If the Redskins fall behind early, it will be interesting to see what happens at the quarterback position, but it seems like the organization and Gruden won't be making any changes soon.
