The musical adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' novel "American Psycho" starring Benjamin Walker has landed a Broadway home, with previews slated to begin March 24 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre in New York City, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Walker, whose other credits include "Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter" and the upcoming "In The Heart of the Sea," will play the lead role of serial killer Patrick Bateman, portrayed by Christian Bale in 2000 film adaptation with the same title. Walker will be making his return to Broadway in the Rupert Goold-directed musical after his breakout stage role in "Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson," as well as his most recent Broadway outing, the 2013 revival of "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" with Scarlett Johansson.

"American Psycho" will include music and lyrics by award-winning Duncan Sheik, who will work in conjunction with book writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. The musical, choreographed by Lynne Page, follows the story of 26-year-old Bateman: a rich, classy Wall Street banker in 1980's New York City with a psychopathic murderous alter-ego that he hides from his friends and co-workers, according to Broadway.

"American Psycho" made premiered in London at the Almeida Theatre in 2013 starring Matt Smith of "Dr. Who" fame in the lead role. The opening date of the musical's Broadway incarnation is yet to be confirmed, but is expected to be sometime in April, Variety reported.
