Jim Carrey's on-again-off-again girlfriend Cathriona White was found dead Monday night from what seems to be a suicide, and the loss has been shocking to all of those who knew her.

When Carrey found out about her death, he released a statement saying that it was "shocking" and that he was "deeply saddened." He also offered condolences to her family and loved ones. "My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her," the 53-year-old actor said. "We have all been hit with a lightning bolt."

Her family has finally spoken out about the devastating news, and their statement is just as devastating and emotional.

"The family of Cathriona White sincerely regret the untimely passing of their beloved daughter and sister," the statement said, according to The Irish Independent. "Cathriona was a shining light in our lives who was loved deeply by her entire family. We will miss her terribly and at this difficult time we ask to be left in private to mourn our loss. There will be no further statements on behalf of the family."

The cause of the 30-year-old makeup artist's death is still being investigated as it can not be determined as a suicide until the autopsy is complete, but there were many indications that led everyone to believe it was a suicide. When White's body was found in her Los Angeles home, there was a suicide note addressed to Carrey that spoke of their Sept. 24 breakup. There were also pills discovered next to her body.

White sent out a cryptic and now heartbreaking tweet just days before she passed, on the same day of their most recent breakup. "Signing off Twitter," she wrote. "I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest."
