Jim Carrey's on-again-off-again girlfriend Cathriona White was found dead in her Los Angeles home on Monday night after committing suicide, TMZ reported. The 28-year-old Irish beauty reportedly cited the couple's Sept. 24 breakup in a suicide note addressed to the actor.

Two friends discovered White's body at her residence after going over to check on her. They called the Los Angeles Police Department, which responded to the call on Monday night, according to TMZ. LAPD officials said they believe her cause of death to be a drug overdose, as pills were discovered next to her body along with her suicide note.

White posted a cryptic tweet on the same day of the couple's recent breakup, Page Six reported.

"Signing off Twitter, I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest," White tweeted.

Carrey, 53, had been romantically involved with White since 2012, Us Weekly reported. They split up shortly after meeting, but they were spotted holding hands while out on a walk in New York City earlier this year.

"They're having a great time now," a source told Us Weekly at the time.

White originally hailed from Cappawhite, a village in southern Ireland, according to local paper The Nationalist. She left Ireland after attending beauty school and worked in the United States as a makeup artist, which she showcased in a selfie posted to her Instagram page last week.
