The Hilton chain of hotels recently announced that there might have been a security breach that happened in retail boutiques, restaurants and other stores that are based in all Hilton establishments all over the United States, Fox News reported.

Visa informed a number of banking institutions and alerted them of a possible security breach from retail stores between April 21 and July 27. Visa did not identify which retail stores, but they were able to identify particular card holders that could potentially be under financial jeopardy. Five different banks realized the alleged hacks happened in retail stores in Hilton properties, according to Krebs On Security.

"Hilton Worldwide is strongly committed to protecting our customers' credit card information. We have many systems in place and work with some of the top experts in the field to address data security. Unfortunately, the possibility of fraudulent credit card activity is all too common for every company in today's marketplace. We take any potential issue very seriously, and we are looking into this matter," Hilton told Road Warrior Voices.

The investigation is still active, but customers who made transactions during those dates and in those locations are advised to verify their bank accounts between April to July for other possible charges. Other evidence suggests that these Hilton credit card hacks could have happened as far back as Nov. 2014 and could still possibly be happening today, according to USA Today.
