The following is grounded more in speculative theory than in actual spoilers. However, some information may be considered spoilers so proceed with caution.

Experts of "Star Wars" lore have been doing their best to piece together the inner workings of J.J. Abrams' upcoming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." Today comes an interesting theory that, while completely out there and almost assuredly not accurate, is worth considering nonetheless.

The theory comes from Josh Outred of MakingStarWars.net. Recently, Disney and Lucasfilm released the novel "Star Wars: Aftermath" which attempts to canonically bridge the gap between "Return of the Jedi" and "The Force Awakens." In the novel, a group known as the Acolytes of the Beyond are searching for Darth Vader's lightsaber in order to destroy it and "return it to their master in death." It would appear as if this group is some sort of Vader fan club that adopts his ideals following his death. This is where Outred believes "The Force Awakens" could be involved.

"Okay, so we know now that Kylo Ren joined a group called the Knights of Ren and in doing so obtained the title Ren in his name, we also know that Kylo is a Vader obsessive whose look is inspired by the dark lord. Could these mysterious Acolytes of the Beyond also be Vader obsessives...could the Knights of Ren be a group that was formed from the Acolytes?"

Taking things a step further, Outred believes that it's possible that the Acolytes/Knights of Ren are attempting to resurrect their fallen leader.

"If they truly believe that they can awaken the dark side of Anakin, they will most likely need a subject body. Early on, I speculated that this could be [Supreme Leader] Snoke, and that's why his appearance is being so closely guarded. However, if the theories are correct on Kylo being Vader's grandson, who better to use than someone with a blood connection to the former dark lord?"

Again, this is not based on insider information. This is just one "Star Wars" expert's opinion based on preexisting rumors and recently added material to the "Star Wars" canon. However, Vader's facemask was shown in the "Star Wars" trailer and his presence has loomed large over the entire saga. While it's doubtful that Abrams would dip back into this well, it's also not completely crazy to think of.
