If you think that owning an iPhone indicates high social standing, then you have never heard of Vertu. It is an Android phone manufactured by a British company of the same name. Its newest iteration - the New Signature Touch - was unveiled last Thursday in London and the cheapest variant has a staggering $11,000 price tag, with the priciest going as high as $26,000.

Looking at the spec sheet, it would seem that Vertu is not that exceptional from today's sea of flagship Android devices. It has a 5.2-inch 1080p display and is powered by an 810 Snapdragon octacore processor and 4GB of RAM. Sure, the internals are top-notch, but the same can be said about the technology inside Samsung Galaxy S6 or the latest Xperia Z5 Premium, as HNGN previously reported.

What sets the Vertu handset apart is that each device is handcrafted in England by one individual from start to finish, according to The Verge. It is wrapped in Grade 5 Titanium, a material used in the aerospace industry. Owners have the option to customize their device from a number of premium materials such as natural hides and leathers sourced in Europe.

The display is also made with 130 carat sapphire crystal, reported Mashable. It is also equipped with a high-level encryption technology.

The takeaway from the New Signature Touch does not end in its specs or the premium construction. It also comes with perks and privileges, such as an 18-month concierge service. A user also need only wave the device in exclusive events and members-only locations, and he will be immediately whisked in.
