Amazon has unveiled more details about its new, incredibly low-priced Amazon Fire tablet, which retails for $50 and will be released Sept. 30. Amazon is even offering a promotional package called the six-pack — if you buy five Fire tablets, you get one for free.

The 7-inch Fire tablet sports a 1024 x 600 resolution IPS display and runs on a 1.3 Ghz quad-core Mediatek processor. It has an 8 GB storage, one GB of RAM and is equipped with a front and rear-facing camera. The e-commerce giant also boasts that the device will last up to seven hours with average use. Based on these specs alone, the Fire is incredibly impressive at its $50 price point. Amazon made it a point to highlight that its new product offering is even more durable than the iPad and faster than its closest Android competition, according to The Verge.

There are those who wonder how Amazon could afford to offer a product at that rate. But it must be underscored that, while the company could lose money selling the Fire, it stands to reap a profit as the device serves as a platform for Amazon's e-commerce business, noted Gizmodo. The Fire OS is a heavily-modified Android that is designed to make its users spend money on Amazon products.

Aside from the 7-inch Fire tablet, Amazon is also offering the new Amazon Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 10 for $150 and $230, respectively. Both of these devices follow the value proposition of the Fire tablet, which is high quality for cheaper cost.
