Researchers have still not reached a conclusion in regards to the UFO that was caught on camera off the coast of Long Island, according to the Daily Mail.

The video was filmed in April at approximately 10:30 pm in Port Jefferson and was subsequently submitted to the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON).

"When I looked to my left, I noticed red and blue lights hovering," the witness wrote in his report to MUFON. "I stopped and watched for a little bit to see if it was just someone playing with a toy. Then the object went higher into the air and started to move pretty fast. I then took out my phone and started to record for as long as I could till my phone died."

Although some researchers believe that it may have been a drone sighting, the video evidence doesn't provide enough information to be certain, according to RT.

"I looked at the video and found there is no reliable way to determine the object's range This presents us with a problem in determining the nature of the object," said Marc Dantonio. the chief photo and video analyst for the UFO Network. "That said, it could be a small object up close, which would put this as a small radio controlled drone or plane. We can't ignore this possibility."

Drones became much more apparent to the public back in 2011, causing many people to mistake them for UFOs, according to the Huffington Post.
