A NASA image that has created a buzz on social media has led many to believe that there is indeed alien life on Mars. The raw image taken by NASA's Mars Curiosity Rover shows a mysterious woman-like shape standing on top of a rock.

In a post titled "Alien Woman on Mars Watching Rover From Hill" on UFO Sightings Daily, the author says that the shape "looks like a woman partly cloaked."

On the other hand, the general consensus on Twitter is that it's just a rock, according to Inquisitir.

Just like with the "space crab" that was found on Mars last week, this is a case of pareidolia, which is known as the brain's ability to make shapes out of random objects, such as seeing a face on an old tree stump or on the walls of a cave.

Pareidolia is usually associated with survival, such as an animals' ability to spot predators in the jungle.

So, while once again the search for life on Mars has hit a snag, it doesn't disprove the possibility entirely.
