20th Century Fox's upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse" promises to be filled to the brim with super powered mutants and ancient Egyptian evils thanks to the melding of casts both old and new the addition of Oscar Isaac as the titular Apocalypse. But beyond being a super hero bonanza, "Apocalypse" also marks the conclusion of the "First Class" trilogy, which has centered around younger versions of Professor X, Magneto, Mystique and Beast. According to writer/producer Simon Kinberg, the emotion of the wrap up will equal the heart pounding action.

Kinberg told Collider that "Apocalypse" will deliver everything fans loved about "X-Men: First Class" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past" plus more.

"It delivers on the dramatic story and emotion of the last two movies," Kinberg said. "It feels like the culmination of the four main characters really - McAvoy, Fassbender, Nic Hoult, and Jen. And it's a bigger movie in both physical scale and I would say emotional stakes too because it is the culmination of this mini trilogy of stories."

"X-Men: First Class" and "Days of Future Past" introduced us to younger versions of familiar characters in the years 1962 and 1973, respectively. This provided viewers a glimpse into who these characters were long before Bryan Singer's original X-Men movies debuted in the early-to-mid 2000s. "X-Men: Apocalypse" will take place in 1983 and will see Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters thriving while Magneto is trying to lead a more noble life and Mystique is attempting to fight against mutant persecution. "Apocalypse" will also feature other "First Class" characters such as Moira MacTaggert, Havok and Quicksilver. Teenage versions of Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, Nightcrawler and Angel will be introduced to help sheppard in a new generation of mutants and set up future cross overs.

James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult all signed three-picture deals with Fox when they signed on to the X-Men universe, possibly making "Apocalypse" the last X-film for each of them. Regardless of if they continue in the X-Men universe, "Apocalypse" promises to be not only entertaining but also emotionally satisfying.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" will hit theaters on May 27, 2016.
