Donald Trump canceled a Friday appearance he had planned for South Carolina, saying he had to tend to business matters instead, according to the New York Times. Several other Republican primary candidates, including Carly Fiorina, are scheduled to appear at the same event.

The canceled appearance has aroused suspicion because, yesterday, Trump failed to correct one of his audience members when they called President Barack Obama a Muslim during Trump's speaking event.

Thursday, an audience member in Rochester, N.H., stood up to speak during a Q-and-A session with Trump, according to Rush Limbaugh, and said: "We have a problem in this country. It's called Muslims. We know our current president is one. He's not even American." Trump reportedly laughed and agreed with the person, rather than correcting him.

A campaign statement explained that Trump "has a significant business transaction that was expected to close Thursday. Due to the delay he is unable to attend today's Heritage Action Presidential Forum," reported the New York Times.

The South Carolina cancellation has drawn some criticism. Gov. Bobby Jindal, R-La., fired at Trump over social media. "Filing for bankruptcy again? Perhaps 5th time is the charm," he said on Twitter.

As for Trump, he "sends his regrets and looks forward to being with the great people of South Carolina on Wednesday in Columbia," said the statement, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
