Reese Witherspoon faced her fear of heights with a death-defying stunt on NBC's new variety show "Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris," Entertainment Tonight reported. The actress was Harris' first guest to challenge him in the show's segment "Neil vs." and the two friends faced off in "Neil Patrick Harris and Reese Witherspoon vs. the Skyscraper."

Matt Iseman, the host of the TV game show "American Ninja Warrior," provided the commentary and explained the stunt that Harris and Witherspoon were about to attempt. The pair was raised 15 stories into the air on a metal contraption with rungs. They were to wait until the contraption reached the top, then climb the metal bars up to the very top where zip lines awaited them. Whoever reached the top and zip lined down through a banner first would win.

"Oh lord, lord, lord," Harris said as they were lifted into the air.

"Is this a good time to tell you I'm afraid of heights?" Witherspoon asked, smiling.

The two longtime pals laughed and joked with each other on the way up, seemingly as to take the edge off of what they were attempting to do. Witherspoon joked that what she was signing up for would entail this skyscraper stunt, and Harris asked if Witherspoon would ever speak to him again.

Once the contraption stopped, a race to the top broke out between Harris and Witherspoon with Harris in the lead. Witherspoon tailed on Harris the entire way up and kept close behind him, but Harris was faster and zip lined his way to the finish.

"I need a nap," Witherspoon said when asked how she felt. "I'm good, I'm terrified."
