The new season of "The View" has only been on the air for one week and the hosts have already caused some major controversy. During the "Hot Topics" section of the show, the co-hosts discussed the 2016 Miss America pageant and mocked Miss Colorado Kelley Johnson, who came out in her nurse outfit during the talent part of the competition. After facing lots of backlash and a Twitter trend, Joy Behar and Michelle Collins apologized for their comments.

"We love nurses. We adore you. We respect you. You guys are wonderful," Collins said during Wednesday's broadcast of "The View." "You're the most compassionate people. I was not talking about nurses, we were talking about the talent competition, and it got misconstrued."

Behar admitted that she was not paying attention to the details of the pageant and thought Johnson was just wearing a "costume."

"I was looking at a Miss America tape, and there's a woman wearing an outfit with a stethoscope, and I'm thinking is she in a costume? I didn't know she was a nurse. I'm used to seeing them in gowns and bathing suits," Behar said of Miss Colorado. "It's not like I was trying to be funny. It was just stupid and inattentive. I didn't know what the hell I was talking about. My son-in-law is a physician's assistant, one of my nieces is a nurse, so I mean I know they wear stethoscopes, I just wasn't paying attention."

Behar and Collins initial comments sparked the creation of the Twitter Hashtag, #NursesUnite, which called for an apology from "The View" hosts, Entertainment Weekly reported.

Looks like they got their way! Check out the full apology from Behar and Collins below!
