Woody Harrelson will star as the new villain in the next installment of Fox's "Planet of the Apes" series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Matt Reeves is returning as director for the new film titled "War for the Planet of the Apes." In the film, Harrelson plays the evil human who is simply called the Colonel.

The plot of the film is being kept tightly under wraps and not much is known about the new installment. Gamriel Chavarria of "East Los High" is also going to appear in the eighth installment of the "Planet of the Apes" franchise, reports Variety.

"War for the Planet of the Apes" is the third film from the rebooted franchise and continues the story of the ape Caesar, according to ComicBook.com. Caesar is brought to life though motion capture and is played by expert actor Andy Serkis, who is in the two previous movies.

"War for the Planet of the Apes" is set to begin filming this fall in Vancouver.

Harrelson is currently filming "LBJ," in which he stars as late American President Lyndon B. Johnson. He can next be seen in the final installment of the "Hunger Games" series, "Mockingjay: Part 2," which opens on Nov. 20.
