Harald Krueger, CEO of German automobile, motorcycle and engine manufacturing company Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW), collapsed Tuesday during a news conference at the Frankfurt auto show in Germany causing a brief scare for onlookers and investors.

During the first five minutes of the presentation of the German auto house's new lineup, Krueger stumbled backward and fell on his back, according to WPXI.

Staff rushed on stage to help Krueger back to his feet, who looked stunned and rubbed the back of his head as he was lifted up and led off stage.

BMW spokesman Maximilian Schoeberl revealed that Krueger had been travelling a lot recently, and despite saying that he wasn't feeling well prior to the presentation, decided to go through with it anyway, reported The Telegraph. He went on to mention that Krueger was seen by a doctor who recommended that he cancel future appointments for the day and focus on resting.

"His condition is not worrisome, they've ruled out anything serious," Schoeberl said.

Chief financial officer Friedrich Eichiner conducted the round table with press that was supposed to be held by Krueger afterwards.

Following the incident, stocks momentarily dropped by almost two points, reported The Mirror, but soon shot back up after Kreuger was given the "all-clear".
