Kamilah Brock, a 32-year-old African American woman from Long Island, N.Y. was detained in a mental hospital for eight days, reportedly because a police officer did not believe she was the owner of her 2003 BMW 325 CI. Although Brock is a successful banker, and even followed by President Barack Obama on Twitter, she alleges she was not treated fairly. It all began with what was supposed to be a minor traffic violation for going through a red light, but quickly spiraled into a pending lawsuit for New York City.

Following the traffic stop, Kamilah Brock was arrested and thrown in jail, but later released with no charges filed. "I was confused and did not know what was going on, why I was being taken into custody," Brock said, according to Yahoo News. As unfortunate as this might have been for Brock, her issues with the NYPD were just beginning.

Brock later attempted to retrieve her car from the impound lot, but was met with a lot of resistance. "They put me in handcuffs and said they just need to put me in handcuffs to take me to my car. And I said OK, whatever it's gonna take to get to my car," Brock said, according to MSN News. Brock was hauled off to a psychiatric ward and allegedly administered hard drugs like lithium against her will.

While in the psych ward, Brock claims she was mentally abused. She was allegedly told that she was a liar. "During her eight-day stay, hospital staff tried to force her to deny that she owned the car, that she was a banker, and that U.S. President Barack Obama followed her on Twitter - all true facts," according to RT News.

Brock will be suing for restitution.  If the NYPD is found to be guilty, the city of New York will have to pay a hefty fine.
