Adrian Grenier posted what he thought was a typical 9/11 tribute, but others took pretty offensively.

On Friday, the 39-year-old "Entourage" actor took to Instagram to share an image of the Twin Towers, according to People. His caption is what really got people's attention, though.

"R.I.P the 2,996 Americans who died in 9/11," he wrote. "R.I.P the 1,455,590 innocent Iraqis who died during the U.S. invasion for something they didn't do." He also shared it on Twitter, but deleted both shortly after as it created a social media war. Many people were calling him "disrespectful" and some even threatened to never see another one of his movies again.

Once deleted, he decided to post other images of the Towers and Ground Zero, according to Gossip Cop. "In challenging moments and times of mourning, we must seek perspective to help us find peace within our choices forward. #911," he wrote. He may have thought it had ended after this, but people continued to slam him for days after.

Hundreds of comments about his decision to not only post, but delete the original photo has people going crazy. Some of his fans and supporters, though, did praise him for being so brave and telling the truth.
