Two crew members lost their lives and one was left injured Friday night after a plane crashed on the set of Tom Cruise's drug war drama "Mena" in Medellin, Columbia.

Cruise was not on board the twin-engine Aerostar since he had wrapped a scene just before the accident. The deceased have been identified as American film pilot Alan David Purwin and Colombian Carlos Berl. Another American pilot, Jimmy Lee Garind, was severely injured in the crash and was rushed to a hospital in Medellin, according to Variety.

"An aircraft carrying crew members crashed while returning to Enrique Olaya Herrera Airport in Medellin following production wrap on the film Mena resulting in two fatalities," said a spokesperson for the film's distributor Universal, according to Deadline. "Further details are not available at this time. On behalf of the production, our hearts and prayers go out to the crew members and their families at this difficult time."

The film, helmed by Doug Liman, has been filming in Columbia since late August. Cruise plays the role of Barry Seal, an American pilot who worked for notorious Columbian drug kingpin Pablo Escobar before going undercover as a spy for the Drug Enforcement Agency. The movie also features Jesse Plemons, Domhnall Gleeson, Sarah Wright and Caleb Landry Jones.
