A special day to some, but a special dog to ALL.

Bretagne is that one of a kind soul that makes her entire life a journey of service to others the lives she has touched, saved, helped, healed, the legacy she leaves behind is something none of us humans are able to ever attain. This is one incredible dog.

Watch the video, try not to tear up and bawl like a baby when you realize the sacrifice and heart of gold, befitting of course, a Golden Retriever, that was there and helped in the moment we shall never forget.

Bretagne is the last remaining living search and rescue dogs that was there during 9/11. When the search turned to recovery, Bretagne helped not only her handler, during those grueling 12 hour daily shifts, but also the other rescue workers, as she did double duty as a therapy dog to the exhausted firefighters and police as well.

"When our task force arrived in Ground Zero, I just couldn't believe the magnitude," said owner Denise Corliss, according to ABC 11. "And I looked down at her, and she seemed stoic and ready to work."

Sept 11 was Bretagne and Corliss' first deployment.

So on this happy sweet 16 birthday for Bretagne, she was treated like royalty. Her friends at Bark Post heard all about what a special dog she was, and flew her from her home in Texas to NYC for the big celebration that included a birthday party, a luxury suite at 1 Hotel Central Park and a tour of the city.

Hudson River Parks presented the hero pooch with a "Key to the City" for her bravery following the terrorist attack, according to the New York Post. It was a day for befitting a Hero indeed.

Everyone was excited to meet this Hero, and Bretagne relished the spoiling and the new friends as she toured Manhattan and enjoyed her moment in the sun. A service dog is a working dog, like her fellow rescue workers, she was just doing her job. How wonderful to see her celebrated for the work she has done and given back to the communities she loves.

Watch the Video to see what this special dog is all about. The tribute and celebration is well deserved. Happy birthday sweet girl!
