Violett Beane has been tapped to play the role of Jesse Quick, a heroine with super-speed, in season 2 of "The Flash."

Jesse will play a "brilliant but quirky college student," who somehow gets involved in the impending confrontation between Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and the villain Zoom, whose casting is still pending, according to TVLine.

In the DC Comics universe, Jesse Quick is the alter ego of Jesse Chambers, who has powers of accelerated speed. Chambers is the daughter of Golden Age heroes Johnny Quick and Liberty Belle. Her superpowers are enabled by speaking a mantra, and she also possesses her mother's abilities, according to E! News.

Additionally, Demore Barnes ("The Unit") has been roped in to play the role of Henry Hewitt, a.k.a. the Firestorm comic villain Tokamak on the CW hit series, and Malese Jow will reprise her role as reporter/Barry's ex Linda Park for multiple episodes.

Season two of "The Flash" will premiere on Tuesday, Oct. 6 on the CW.
