Castle and Beckett still haven't discussed the idea of having children in-depth, but maybe they'll start thinking of it more seriously when they see Det. Ryan and his wife Jenny welcome their second child this upcoming season on "Castle."

The expectant parents (played by real-life married couple Seamus and Juliana Dever) will give their daughter Sarah Grace either a little brother or sister during the ABC show's eighth season, according to TVLine.

The couple welcomed their first child in season six, moments after Ryan and Esposito (Jon Huertas) almost died in a raging fire.

"Ultimately, that's going to make Ryan even more paranoid and more excited about trying to make money. When he sees Beckett rising up in the ranks, the boys realize it's time for them to start looking at their futures, which is going to create some tension and conflict between them," co-showrunner Terence Paul Winter told TVGuide.com.

"Castle" will jump ahead a few months to find Beckett (Stana Katic) sitting in the captain's chair following the exit of Penny Johnson Jerald, who played Captain Victoria Gates over the last four seasons. With Beckett as the boss, it will create a new and sometimes difficult struggle with her detectives and husband/partner, Castle (Nathan Fillion).

"She's still going to be very boots-on-the-ground, but now she has to work with Esposito and Ryan much differently than in the past, and that's going to cause more conflict," co-showrunner Alexi Hawley told TVGuide.com.

Co-showrunner Terence Paul Winter added about Beckett and Castle's changed relationship on the job: "It's much different when your wife is the captain, the boss, versus when your wife is the detective."

"Castle" will return on Monday, Sept. 21 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
