Google updated its search results on Friday to display relevant tweets as part of its partnership with Twitter. The integration on mobile devices was rolled out earlier this year.

The search engine giant seems to finally acknowledge that Twitter is really good in breaking news updates. For instance, googling "Taylor Swift" will show you the singer/songwriter's Twitter account and her latest tweet, just below some news results. There's no need to add the word "Twitter" or any hashtag because it will automatically display the information for you.

"It's a great way to get real-time info when something is happening. And it's another way for organizations and people on Twitter to reach a global audience at the most relevant moments," Ardan Arac, senior product manager of Google, wrote in a blog post in May.

The post was updated on Friday with a note: "Update, 8/21/2015: We've extended this to desktop now too, and in English everywhere."

Google and Twitter were partners in 2009 then broke up in 2011 for undisclosed reasons. This year, it seems that both have realized that it would be "mutually beneficial" to partner again, although the idea that Google would eventually buy Twitter is far from happening, according to Digital Trends.

The desktop integration of the relevant tweets in the search results is currently limited to English, but Google said that it is working to make it available to other languages, too, PCWorld reported.

Twitter is hoping that the partnership with Google will generate new users who would be compelled to sign up after clicking the link. The company continues to grow its user base, but it is slower than the previous years.
