Jon Stewart helped launch the comedy careers of many of the top people working in the field today. In honor of Stewart's last day of hosting "The Daily Show" after 16 seasons, here are 10 comedians that got their start on the Comedy Central satire show.

1. Stephen Colbert (1997-2005)

Stephen Colbert joined "The Daily Show in 1997 and set the highest bar for "Daily Show" correspondents. Colbert left the show in 2005 to launch the spin-off "The Colbert Report," built around his "well-intentioned, poorly informed idiot" character. Colbert recently left his Comedy Central gig to take over for David Letterman on CBS' "Late Show," which officially premiers later this year.

2. Steve Carell (1999-2005)

Steve Carell was considered one of the first big break out correspondents of "The Daily Show." Carell and Colbert used to debate the day's hot topics on the show in a segment called "Even Stevphen" before he left to play Michael Scott on NBC's "The Office."

3. John Oliver (2007-2013)

British comedian John Oliver joined "The Daily Show" as the Senior British Correspondent. 6. Kristen Schaal (2008-current)

Kristen Schaal is still the Senior Women's Issues Correspondent and has mastered the art of making Jon Stewart feel awkward and wrong about gender-based topics. Between her "Daily Show" correspondents gig she has had roles on "30 Rock," "Bob's Burgers" and "Last Man on Earth."

7. Rob Corddry (2002-2006)

8. Rob Riggle (2006-2008)

Thanks to Rob Riggle's background as a marine, he was named "Senior Foreign Correspondent" and drew huge laughs because of his big, brash meathead American persona. Riggle left the show in 2008 to star in "Modern Family," "The League" and "21 Jump Street."

9. Josh Gad (2009-2011)

Josh Gad was originally known as the lead in Broadways smash "The Book of Mormon" and only had a handful of appearances on "The Daily Show," but he made them count.
