Last night Amy Schumer visited Jon Stewart's "The Daily Show" to discuss the shooting that took place at a showing of her movie "Trainwreck" in Lafayette, La. on July 23. The incident left three dead, including the shooter, and nine injured.

"That must have rocked you to your core," Stewart said to Schumer.

"What a bummer, I was legit heartbroken. To get that call – I'd had a lot of missed calls so I assumed there was a sex tape out of me or something – I was preparing for that. But then to hear that news, it broke my heart," Schumer replied.

Her appearance on "The Daily Show" came just hours after Schumer joined her cousin, New York Senator Chuck Schumer, in a press conference to push for tighter gun control laws. "The fact that this happened – you want to act. I wanted to go down there and do whatever I could, this was in the works. I am so happy he (Sen. Schumer) invited me to be a part of it," she said.

"I wish you well in the whole endeavor," Stewart told her.

On a lighter note Schumer also talked about her recent vacation with actress Jennifer Lawrence. "She is the coolest chick you will ever meet." Schumer told Stewart. "Once a year I go away with all my girlfriends from high school. We went to the Hamptons because they wouldn't let us go to Martha's Vineyard, no one would rent us a house.... Jennifer and I had become friends, and I told her, 'Oh we're going on a boat tomorrow, you should come,' and she was like, 'I think I'm coming.' "
