A Basset Hound jumped out of a third-floor window, falling face first onto rock-hard concrete but survived with the help of his "Dumbo" ears. The two-year-old dog, Remy, suffered just minor injuries when his large floppy ears slowed his fall.

"I don't know if he was trying to glide down or if it was his ears that saved him. It's just a miracle," owner Suzi Lane said, according to Sunday Express.

Suzi and her partner Richard Bradley were out from home to watch a concert when their neighbors called them that their dog jumped out of the window after he spotted his cat friend outdoors.

A neighbor brought Remy to a vet and Remy was given an hour of oxygen therapy, intravenous fluids, pain relief and X-rays.

"Remy was unbelievably lucky. He suffered some slight bruising to his sternum and a partial left lung collapse. When X-raying him, we expected many broken bones, internal bleeding, fractures and severely collapsed lungs - but he was pretty much unscathed," said veterinary nurse Harriet Deering, from Crossways Veterinary Group in nearby Storrington, who treated the dog, Daily Mail reported.

The black and white dog was just adopted eight weeks prior to the incident from local animal rescue charity WADARS in Steyning, West Sussex.

The couple was happy that Remy is in good condition after the fall. Lane adds: "He's my superhero; I love the idea of a flying dog like Dumbo. Maybe his ears did play a part in his fall, but we will never know for certain."

Meanwhile, Bradley shared his story of how adorable and naughty Remy is which made them love him even more.

"He's really naughty and once stole our dinner. He has only little legs but he's remarkably agile and will get up onto the dining room table and finish off anything left there if there's no-one looking. He's high maintenance - it's worse than having a child - but he's lovely."
