Warning: The following contains possible spoilers for "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice."

Ever since Warner Bros. revealed that Batman and Superman would be going toe-to-toe in the next installment of their shared DC Cinematic Universe, fans have been wondering how exactly that conflict would go down. After all, Superman is a virtually indestructible alien while Batman is just a human. As it turns out, the film's teaser trailer may have provided some clues.

In the teaser trailer, we see Batman (Ben Affleck) decked out in a fully mechanized Batsuit inspired by Frank Miller's famous comic "The Dark Knight Returns." But that's not all we see. HeroicHollywood is reporting that the object Batman is holding in the below image is an "anti-Superman weapon" in the form of a "Kryptonite laced spear."

This is interesting for a few reasons. First, it would introduce Kryptonite, Superman's primary weakness, into the DCCU. If Batman's threat of making Superman bleed at the end of the teaser were to be taken literally, this is how he would do that.

Second, rumors about Lex Luthor appearing in his iconic Battle Armor from the comics have been gaining steam over the last few months. But that suit was powered by Kryptonite which is what gave Luthor his slight advantage. Without it, Superman could cut through it in no time.

Third, speculation about the film has hinted that LexCorp salvages Kryptonian technology and possibly even General Zod's body for experimentation. It's possible that he stumbles across some Kryptonite in the process.

This all could lead to a very interesting conclusion: Luthor arming Batman with pieces of Kal-El's home world. Wouldn't it be perfectly Luthorian of him to pit Batman and Superman against one another while hatching his own evil scheme in the background?

This is all still just unconfirmed rumors at the moment, but they do make a lot of sense once you connect the dots. What do you think, movie fans? Let us know in the comments section below.

"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" will hit theaters on March 25, 2016.
