Michelle Wallace will not return as a daily co-host of "The View" after only one season at the round table.

The network has offered the conservative contributor a contract to appear on the show from time to time, but she has yet to decide if she will continue at the ABC day-time talk show, or leave entirely, Variety reported

The former communications chief for George W. Bush and senior advisor for the McCain-Palin campaign took over as the "resident Republican" on the show in September following Elisabeth Hasselbeck, but has underwhelmed. Producers hoped that Wallace's conservative views would make for good television, but she did not disagree strongly with the other co-hosts as often as hoped. She was also not very well-versed on celebrities and pop culture topics, according to Deadline.

Reports of Wallace's departure follow news that Rosie Perez will not return next season and Rosie O'Donnell's exit in February. Comedian Michelle Collins has been named the newest co-host of "The View" and will start her new gig when the show returns for season 19 in September, People reported. Collins joins remaining cast members Whoopi Goldberg and Raven- Symone.
