Elton John and Kiki Dee’s epic performance of their classic and groovy hit “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart,” at the July 1985 Live Aid music show in Philadelphia is HNGN’s Throwback Thursday selection. The actual performace, which sees its 30th anniversary this year, was on July 13, 1985, according to the concert's archived website

“Don’t go breaking my heart. I couldn’t if I tried. Honey if I get restless, Baby you’re not that kind,” are the words the singers’ alternate in the record according to azlyrics. The tune was also the second most popular-selling track of its release year - 1976 - throughout the United Kingdom and the United States according to Songfacts.

The funny thing is that the duo had planned to do a rendition of the Four Tops song, “Loving You Is Sweeter Than Ever.” The jam was the first of two collaborations the duo did, including “True Love."
