Maltese-born actor Joseph Gatt will be joining the cast of HBO's hit series "Game of Thrones" for season four as Styr, Magnar of Thenn, according to Malta Today. The first season of the show was in fact partially filmed in Malta, a southern European country in the Mediterranean Sea.

Gatt's new role as a "wildling" war chief has been confirmed by his agency as well as a listing on IMDb. His character will help lead an attack on Castle Black in the upcoming season, set to premiere in the spring of 2014. It looks as though the show producers are sticking to the descriptions of Styr from the original book series, "A Song Of Ice and Fire," portraying him as a tall, imposing and completely hairless man. In the books, Styr has allied himself with Mance Rayder, a man who commands absolute loyalty from his men and rules with an iron fist.

Gatt will be filming his scenes in Iceland, as all of the series's Castle Black and The Wall scenes are filmed in the snowy regions of the country.

Raised in London, the 38-year old actor has been "quietly carving out a niche for himself as a powerful and quirky presence in cinema, television and even video games," according to Malta Today, having appeared in the films "Thor," "Star Trek Into Darkness," the TV show "Banshee," and done voice for work the 2011 video game "Star Wars: The Old Republic," just to name a few of his projects.

If the rumors are true, Gatt will make his first appearance as Styr, Magnar of Thenn in the series premiere of season four. Joining him this upcoming season will be fellow new cast members Pedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell, the Red Viper), Roger Ashton-Griffiths (Mace Tyrell), Indira Varma (Ellaria Sand), Mark Gatiss (role as yet unknown) and Dean-Charles Chapman, who will replace Callum Wharry as Tommen Baratheon, the sweet younger brother of the villainous Joffrey Baratheon.

So far, filming for season four has already begun in Iceland, though filming in Croatia and Belfast for King's Landing scenes have yet to begin.
