Katy Perry has become involved in a legal battle regarding the sale of a historic convent in Los Angeles. The Archbishop of Los Angeles, Jose Gomez, is in a dispute with several elderly Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary over the pending sale of their former convent in Los Feliz to superstar Katy Perry, according to E!.

At the center of the dispute is a disagreement over the legal rights to sell the spectacular villa-style hilltop property, which overlooks downtown Los Angeles. The five remaining sisters are claiming that they are the rightful owners of the property and wish to sell it to restaurateur Dana Hollister for $15.5 million.

However, Gomez, who also claims legal ownership of the convent, hopes to sell it to Katy Perry for $14.5 million. Gomez filed legal papers against Hollister this month claiming that the sisters do not have the right to make a sale without his consent. In addition, the Archbishop also seeks to void the sale of the real estate to Hollister and prevent her from trespassing on the property, the LA Times reported.

In a statement, the archdiocese said, "Unfortunately, the archdiocese had to take civil action to protect against the unauthorized action by Ms. Hollister, which was undertaken after the preferred transaction had been accepted with the Sisters," reported CBS Los Angeles.

Perry even met with the nuns and sang the gospel tune "Oh Happy Days" to them but the sisters had done their research on the singer and they were not impressed with what they saw. "Well, I found Katy Perry and I found her videos and...if it's all right to say, I wasn't happy with any of it," said Sister Rita, according to US Magazine.

"We have given many years to this archdiocese and we have served them well," she added. "For the archdiocese to...put us under a bus and run over us, I'm sorry, it was just too much for me."
