Soccer (or football) fans may have been disappointed at E3. It seems EA Sports focused a lot more on “NBA Live 14” than “FIFA 14” (Granted the latter is WAY more popular than the former.)
However, soccer fans can be excited once more. EA Sports recently showed a 10-minute trailer that outlines some of the games new features, according to WhatCulture.com.
In the video “FIFA 14” producer Nick Channon sat down with IGN shows the new pride and joy of EA Sports, the Ignite engine. Ignite is going into all next-gen EA Sports games such as—“FIFA 14,” “Madden 25,” and “NBA Live 14”—in order to make the games more realistic.
During the video, Channon shows some recorded gameplay that gives examples of how Ignite works. For example in one play, the ball handler is able to leap over a defenders foot since Ignite allows players to realize where others are in real time.
Speaking about the player that leaped over the defender’s leg Shannon says, “It’s because he now has full awareness of where that leg is. So he is able to ride the challenge [and] stay on his feet.”
Shannon pointed out that in the past with “FIFA”, the player would have most likely tripped and fell which could be bothersome for gamers.
Another example of the engine’s power was with headers. EA Sports has introduced “finesse headers,” which makes crossing and finishing in front of the goal easier and, more importantly, more realistic. According to Channon, past “FIFA” games have had only finesse shooting.
Last month, EA Sports announced FIFA Ultimate Team would only be on the Xbox One. However, there are no specific details on the feature.
