Opera Coast has added web browser capabilities for Apple iPhone users, according to a Thursday press release from the company.

Opera's product manager stated that the browser is step up from others.

"Like everyone who owns an iPhone, I've often picked it up when waiting for something or someone," Huib Kleinhout said in a statement. "I was never quite happy with how apps and browsers kind of got in the way of the content. With Opera Coast, we have made content the main star of the show, letting the browser app itself get out of the way when you just want to kill some time. It's the way the web was meant to be enjoyed."

Kleinhout told Tech Crunch that times are slowly changing for web browsers.

"All browsers are moving in this direction. But it's all happening in baby steps. With Coast, we wanted to follow this direction and take ten steps at a time," Kleinhout said.

Opera also hopes the company's web browser marks the return of users' ability to locate interesting content on the Internet.

"We believe the Internet is a great collection of information, but in general, you don't discover many sites simply because you don't know about them. We want to bring back this ability to find cool sites," Kleinhout told Tech Crunch.

Opera is now available for two technological devices - Coast released a version of its browser for iPad on Sept. 13, following a year and a half of work from company engineers.

"People don't use the browser as a power tool. On a tablet, browsers felt outdated, and that bothered me. Why? Because we make browsers for a living. We're passionate about making the Internet better," Kleinhout told Tech Crunch at the time.

Over 350 million consumers use Opera products across the globe, according to the press release.
