Israel made huge headlines after rejecting the war-ending resolution. Because of this, Hamas leaders said that there's no chance of hostages returning because of Netanyahu's decision.

In late November 2023, the U.S., Egypt, and Qatar brokered a ceasefire deal between Israel and the Palestinian terrorist group. This truce included hostage releases.

Over 100 captives were released by Hamas leaders in return for 240 Palestinian prisoners, who were held in Israeli prisons. However, around 130 hostages still remain in the hands of the Palestinian militant group.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu looks on as the US Secretary of State gives statements to the media inside The Kirya, which houses the Israeli Defence Ministry, after their meeting in Tel Aviv on October 12, 2023.

According to The Guardian's latest report, the release of remaining hostages held by Hamas terrorists seems to have receded after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected their conditions.

One of the Hamas leaders, Sami Abu Zuhri, said that what Netanyahu did meant that "there is no chance for the return of the [Israeli] captives." As of writing, the Palestinian militant organization is still holding around 130 hostages.

On Sunday, Jan. 21, hostages' families protested outside the private residence of the Israeli PM in Jerusalem. These protesters are expected to remain until the Israeli leader agrees to a deal to return the captives, as confirmed by the Hostages and Missing Families Forum.

The Israeli advocacy group also argued that Benjamin Netanyahu recently promised that they "will not abandon civilians, soldiers, and others kidnapped" by Hamas terrorists during the deadly attack in October 2023.

"If the prime minister decides to sacrifice the hostages, he should show leadership and honestly share his position with the Israeli public," said the Hostages and Missing Families Forum.

Palestinian Hamas militants are seen during a military show in the Bani Suheila district on July 20, 2017 in Gaza City, Gaza. For the past ten years Gaza residents have lived with constant power shortages, in recent years these cuts have worsened, with supply of regular power limited to four hours a day.

Reuters reported that the Israeli prime minister didn't agree with the two-state war resolution proposal because of the conditions presented by Hamas terrorists.

Among the conditions demanded by the Palestinian militant group is for Israel to completely withdraw its IDF forces from Gaza. Hamas leaders also wanted Israel to allow them to remain in power.

"In exchange for the release of our hostages, Hamas demands the end of the war, the withdrawal of our forces from Gaza, the release of all the murderers and rapists," said Netanyahu.

"I reject outright the terms of surrender of the monsters of Hamas," he added.
