Google warns all Chrome users, urging billions of folks to update their web browsers as quickly as possible due to the first-ever zero-day security vulnerability for 2023. The latest version addresses the issue altogether, the search behemoth says.

The renowned tech giant is now recommending Chrome users keep their browsers up to date to ensure they remain safe while browsing the internet.

Google Urges Chrome Users to Update ASAP

As per a report by Forbes, Google recently revealed that it had discovered a new zero-day security issue beneath its famous web browser, which rivals Microsoft's Edge and Apple's Safari. And as such, roughly three billion Chrome users from various parts of the world now have to update their browsers to ensure their safety.

The tech behemoth says that the zero-day vulnerability affects browser users on various platforms, specifically desktop or laptop users. The security flaw exists on the Windows and Mac versions of Chrome and Linux.

Google has already released a new version of Chrome to fix the nasty security flaw for its desktop and laptop users. The tech giant is now urging users of its flagship browser to get their hands on the 112.0.5615.121 update. It should patch the CVE-2023-2033 zero-day vulnerability.

Bleeping Computer reports that Google announced the first-ever zero-day exploit in one of its security blog posts. The tech giant confirmed that it is "aware that an exploit for CVE-2022-2023 exists in the wild." This means that cyber attackers have already exploited the flaw.

The cybersecurity-focused news outlet says that Google has yet to disclose the details of the first zero-day flaw in 2023. However, according to The Register, the vulnerability affects the V8 JavaScript engine of the browser.

From time to time, Google releases critical Chrome updates to address security issues and fix bugs to improve the overall experience of its users. The tech giant consistently smashes these vulnerabilities now and then. Other software makers like Apple and Microsoft also patch similar flaws to ensure the safety of their users across the globe. Like Google, these tech behemoths issue Windows and macOS or iOS updates to address zero-day flaws.
