The legendary Brazilian football player Pele will spend Christmas at a hospital in Sao Paulo due to the progression of his cancer, and he needs treatment for renal and cardiac problems, according to his family.
The 82-year-old, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest football players of all time, has been a patient at the Albert Einstein hospital since late November while physicians reassess his condition and cure a lung infection, CNN reported.
Multiple Health Issues

According to their previous statement, Pele "continues to show improvement" in his clinical condition, particularly the respiratory illness." The hospital added that he is still confined in a standard room, alert and in good health.
The three-time World Cup champion recently suffered from a respiratory illness that was exacerbated by COVID-19, but the hospital made no note of any symptoms of that risk on Pele health.
Currently, Edson Arantes do Nascimento, better known as Pelé, is receiving chemotherapy. Whether the disease has spread to other body parts has not been disclosed by either his family or the hospital.

When Brazil got eliminated by Croatia in the World Cup quarterfinals, he posted a photo of Neymar on Instagram with a message: "I saw you grow, I cheered for you every day and I can finally congratulate you for reaching my number of goals with Brazil."
Following his hospitalization, as he fights colon cancer, Brazilian soccer legend Pele stated earlier this month that he is "strong" and thankful for the love he has been getting from all around the world, according to Reuters. The 82-year-Instagram old's message expressed his desire to maintain "everyone calm" and optimistic.
