Georgia Tech (7-5) finished the season with a 41-34 loss on Nov. 30 to Georgia, the Yellow Jackets' second loss in three games. Most of Tech's offense came through its ground game with running backs David Sims and Robert Godhigh. Sims rushed for 846 yards and 11 touchdowns, and he has the possibility of becoming the first Yellow Jacket to rush more 1,000 yards since Anthony Allen in 2010, according to ESPN.
Although Godhigh only carried the ball 69 times, he had a staggering 10.1 yards per rush for 694 yards and six touchdowns.
While Tech didn't finish with an invite to the BCS championship, the Music City Bowl is the chance to finish the season on a strong note.
"To play a bowl game within driving distance for our fans, and to play against a high-quality opponent in Ole Miss, is a great opportunity," Tech coach Paul Johnson said, via ESPN. "Ole Miss is a very talented football team and they are well-coached, so we certainly have our work cut out for us."
Ole Miss (7-5), meanwhile, enjoyed a four-game winning streak before dropping the last two games of the season to Missouri and Mississippi State. Despite ending the regular season on a poor note, Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze expects the fans to be as loud as ever on Monday.
"I appreciate the unbelievable support Rebel Nation has provided our team, and I look forward to seeing a sea of Red and Blue in Nashville," said Freeze.
