Game developer Niantic announced Pokemon Go's most recent update and it has kept the hype up since Saturday. The Buddy System update of Niantic's Pokemon Go will allow users to select a Pokemon companion that they can walk with.

According to International Business Times, Pokemon Go's update will be given out in stages for Android users whereas iOS users will have to wait for Apple's approval.

Though it's hardly surprising for Android users to receive the update first, Forbes reported that those who have experienced the much-anticipated Pokemon Go Buddy System only received the patch through APK.

There's no clear information as to why there is a delay but reports speculate that it might have something to do with Niantic's recent anti-cheating move which took away the chance to play Pokemon Go from rooted or jailbroken devices.

While waiting for the update, fans have constantly been on the watch for new Pokemon Go tips and tricks from those who were lucky enough get the Buddy System as soon as it came out.

Here's the top five tricks you should know about Niantic's Pokemon Go Buddy System:

1. The Pokemon Go Buddy System has a neat throwback installed. After walking 10 kilometers with Pikachu as your companion, it will jump up and rest on your avatar's shoulders. It's a clear tribute to the anime series.

2. There's a way to work around the missing update for those playing Pokemon Go on iOS. Users can login to their Pokemon Go account on an Android phone equipped with the latest update and assign yourself a buddy Pokemon. Several users have reported that even though the app on iOS still lacks the update, it will still track how far you've walked with your companion.

3. Swapping out the buddy Pokemon will cause the incurred distance to be lost. Make sure that before switching to a new buddy, you've received the candy reward.

4. The Pokemon Go Buddy System was designed to help players strategize and train their Pokemon. Rare ones in their base forms are the best buddies since normally, getting candies for evolution can be prove to be quite a hardship. Evolved Pokemons cannot incur any more candies.

5. Buddy Pokemons cannot be used for gyms. But the good news is you can use it for attacking and even after it has fainted, the app will still record the distance covered.
